Odyssey or Sienna?

The arrival this fall of James Tiberius or Jaimie Tyronica means we will be replacing the Mrs. LMC's ride with a dreaded minivan and the selection has narrowed to Honda and Toyota. Recommendations, anyone?

SUPER-SEKRET MESSAGE FOR THE BUTCHER'S WIFE: Yes, you won the bet and yes, I know what that means.

Toyota - 'cause I've always wanted one, and She wouldn't allow it (carrying on like I was trying to shove her into the burqa)...

That means Mrs. Robbo wins the bet, doesn't it?

Never been near a Sienna, but I've ridden in friends' Odyssey before, and liked it.

You could always go for the GM government guaranteed battery powered green mini-van.

My only recommendation is that you have to park your keister in them. When we got our last minivan we got it down to the Toyota and the Ford, they were at the time the only two with sidecurtain airbags. The Ford was comfortable for Hubby and the Toyota was hideously uncomfortable (and just plain weird on the inside). Since this would be our long family trip car, we went for the Ford. It now has in just over 5 years 100 k miles on it.

You might want to drop your deductable for a few months. I know two people who backed their sparkly new vans into the very same steel bollard.

My wife owns an Odyssey with a moon roof. It handles like a car, and is pretty peppy. The only complaint I have is about the friggin automatic sliding doors which can't be opened or closed any more quickly than the motor that slides them. It's scary how much stuff you can haul in one of these. Sienna's are pretty much the same, and we only got the Honda because we got a better price on it. By the same token, I recently unloaded my Honda Accord and replaced it with a Toyota FJ Cruiser, which I love. For quality, I don't think you'll go wrong with Honda OR Toyota.

A couple of years ago, we replaced our old Chevy Venture with a new Honda Odyssey, as the new Chevy offering was a piece of crep. The Honda performed well, standing up to several Boy Scout trips without complaint. Several weeks ago, it was totaled when Chevy Avalanche plowed into the driver's side door at 40+ mph. She Who Must Be Obeyed was not hurt. Higher praise of the protection system I cannot give.
