Hugh Laurie, OBE

Laurie.jpg

Congratulations to Hugh Laurie on his creation as a member of the Order of the British Empire by HRH today.

Personally, I don't watch House at all (although the Missus is a firm fan) and I thought the Jeeves & Wooster series something of an abomination. Nonetheless, I recognize Laurie as a good 'un and am quite happy for his recognition.

UPDATE: Here's an amusing little bit o' Fry & Laurie for you:

I enjoyed the J&W series, though I haven't read the books.

House is one of the better shows on TV. Huey Laurie is a great actor.

Jolly good! I LOVE House, even tho' it is formulaic and not at all credible. It's my favorite nite-time Soap.

I watched about three minutes of one of those "Wooster and Jeeves" thingies on PBS and nearly stuck my finger in a light socket to induce short-term memory loss. I will not have those people mucking about with my mental image of Plum's characters.

OTOH, Hugh did some excellent work on the old "Blackadder" series. The difference from his character on "House" is enormous. No question, the guy's got some range as an actor.
