The Mustache disengaged itself from John later in the Green Room and beat Colbert to a bliddy pulp.
Because Bolton's mustache of course talks with an Afrikaner accent.

I admire Bolton for going on the show but for the life of me I have no idea what he thought he was going to accomplish- other than perhaps to show that he is not necessarily the monster that he was portrayed to be. It would be great if there was a forum where he could properly explain the intricacies of constitutional law, specifically the separation of powers and executive privilege. However, The Daily Show sure as hell isn't it.
