Thursday lunch chuckle

Kerry: I'll kick the SwifVets in the ass in 08!

Spoken like a true Red Sox fan...

Here's the money quote:

Kerry says the only reason he didn’t compete in more states in 2004 was that he ran out of money. He says this was also the reason he did not adequately respond to a series of devastating TV ads by Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth, a group that questioned Kerry’s service in Vietnam and criticized his later opposition to the war.

“They had money behind the lies, and we did not have sufficient money behind the truth,” Kerry laments.

Asked if he dreads the prospect of being “Swift-Boated” all over again, Kerry counters that he would relish such a fight.

“I’m prepared to kick their ass from one end of America to the other,” he declares. “I am so confident of my abilities to address that and to demolish it and to even turn it into a positive.”

Here's the list from Open Secrets of the top donors to 527s by committee and by individual donors: notice the overwhelming tilt at the top to Kerry and the Donks. Here's the record for the SwiftVets $17m, and here's MoveOn.org at $21.5m.

So the notion that the SwiftVets were sitting on mountains of ill-gotten corporate booty and the Party of the People had no money to counter it is a complete farce.

Somebody need to let Kerry know that he's rapidly becoming the Wiley E. Coyote of American politics, just one more Acme Campaign Strategy from beating that Roadrunner...

Altogether everybody: MMMMMEEEEP! MMMMMMMEEEEP!

Ran out of money?? What about the $15 million he was sitting on at the end of the campaign, money lower-tier Democratic candidates were saying Kerry should have redistributed to close lower-tier races.

He has released all his service records, right? He said he was going to.

The best line on the SwiftVets came from Scrappleface, who noted that Kerry's candidacy was opposed by only a "tiny majority" of the men who served with him in Vietnam....

Yet again, John Kerry cannot come to grips with the fact that the reason he lost was...John F. Kerry. It wasn't the Swift Boat vets, or voting in Ohio, or the lack of money...

John F. Kerry insisted on making Vietnam the centerpiece of his campaign and if his service record was John McCain's he would have something to run on. But he ran on his own as he saw it, and everyone else brought him back to reality.
