Gratuitous Flashy Posting

Flashy.jpg

Not only has that scoundral Flash Harry got me spending far too much time readin' his adventures, now the feller has me buying source material as well!

Impudent feller! What, he thinks everyone's married to a rich Scots heiress?

UPDATE: Here's a bibliography of the works of George MacDonald Fraser, including screenplays for some well-known movies. I was delighted when I first learned that he had done the old Michael York Three Musketeers and Four Musketeers, because I thought they were pretty good treatments of ol' Dumas. (On the other hand, I'd bet he'd want Red Sonja back if he could get it.)

UPDATE DEUX: Of course, you must not credit Flashy with too much power of persuasion here. After all, it doesn't take that much in order to get me to buy another book by Francis Parkman.

FWIW - I ust finished a short GMF novel The Candlemass Road. Very good, very different from Flashie's adventures.

The man seems to be amazingly prolific.

I loved the Musketeers movies growing up. Oliver Reed was my favorite. He's also something of a hero of mine because of the manner of his death.

And I thought Red Sonja, featuring a pre-op Brigitte Nielsen, was very underrated.

One of my favorite features of the Flashman books is the endnotes. I've gone back and read maybe 5 percent of the works cited that I keep promising myself to track down, and there are enough intriguing titles to keep me busy for years to come.
