Gratuitous Domestic Posting (TM) - Dental Hygene Division
Well, Lemming of the BDA isn't around, so maybe one of you can offer some insight:
I finally bought an electric toothbrush about six weeks ago. I love the thing, but I seem to be going through batteries at a tremendous clip. Like every 10 days or so. As far as I can tell, water keeps leaking into the casing and corroding them.
This can't be right, can it?
Posted by Robert at April 11, 2006 12:27 PM | TrackBackWhat kind did you get? That doesn't sound right based on my experience with my electric toothbrush.
Posted by: jen at April 11, 2006 01:03 PMJust one of those Ortho B basic jobs. Have I just answered my own question?
Posted by: Robbo the LB at April 11, 2006 01:21 PMDepends. Are you using it to sand a bookshelf?
Posted by: Bill from INDC at April 11, 2006 01:46 PMI have one I bought at Walmart. It might be Crest. Or perhaps Oral-B. Anyway, no problems. I only use it for travel, but it's seen a lot of travel. (Have the plug-in kind for home. I like the two minute timer.)
Posted by: bobgirrl at April 11, 2006 02:35 PMOrtho B or Oral B? I'm thinking Ortho B is for gardening your teeth, where Oral B is for cleaning your teeth.
I know that there have been a couple times when mine wouldn't turn off because water got into the casing. Putting on the charger base somehow turned it off.
I'm guessing you didn't buy the rechargable kind?
Are you sticking your entire head under the faucet when you brush? The base should get that wet.
Posted by: jen at April 11, 2006 03:35 PMLet me try that last part again...
The base should not get that wet. I'm thinking you might have a crack in the casing that's causing your problem.
Posted by: jen at April 11, 2006 03:38 PMOh, dear. The apparent fact that I'm trying to brush my teeth with insecticide might explain why I'm having so many troubles....
Posted by: Robbo the LB at April 11, 2006 04:13 PMOr maybe your wife is using it for..other reasons...
OH! OUTTA LINE!!!!!
