Tempus Fugit

It seems like just yesterday that I was changing the eldest Llama-ette's diapers. And yet she just left a few minutes ago to start her first paying gig as a mother's helper for a family up the street from us.

I suppose it's going to be learner's permits, college applications and wedding plans before I know what's what.

Yikes.

let's not forget car dates, insufferable suitors, and prom dresses.

Personally I think all parents should give their girls a good personal defense course. Ju-jitsu or jeet-kun-do or a real krav-maga class (KM classes that really teach KM are near impossible to find once they replaced kick-boxing and spinning as the weight-loss fad-of-the-day) When I was younger and thinner and had better knees, I studied judo and karate, but they are too tournament oriented.

Failing that a good self-defense class that lasts a few weeks is better than nothing.

A good intro may just be "Refuse to be a Victim" by the NRA. (No guns in RtbaV) Some good stuff that can be done with kubaton, and general awareness.

The world is a scary place today, getting scarier, and dad won't always be around. Best thing you can do for her is to give her the confidence and the training to deal with at least some of it.
