Gratuitous Domestic Posting (TM) - Outdoor Division

Just came in from picking some blueberries and raspberries for afters this evening. Yum.

We've had so much rain this year in the Dee Cee area that my bushes and canes are going like gangbusters. Indeed, the raspberries are so tall and thick that I'm not even going to be able to reach half of the fruit.

Perhaps I'll open a roadside stand......

Lovely. My blueberries are just coming in, but I only have one bush that is producing fruit yet, so we don't have that much fruit. My raspberries are new this year too. I'm just looking forward to next year. There's nothing like fresh berries from the garden topped with a little whipped cream.

My kids have been industriously picking the black raspberries and blackberries that line the perimeter of our property. And, like you, we probably won't be able to get to them all.

But the kids feel like they're doing something, and it's a great way to shoo them outside for a while.

My mother used to send the children out to pick the rasperries that grew wild on her property in Maine. They would come home with their mouths stained red and a paultry few raspberries.
You can't imagine the kick my mother got out of this exercise. I only wish to espire to her "Grandmotherness."
