Gratuitous Annapolis Observation

The expression "peace process" positively grates on my nerves.

I've never been able to decide whether the people who came up with this term for the bureaucratic kabuki that is Middle Eastern diplomacy were breath-takingly naive or breath-takingly cynical.

That is all.

BIZARRO WORLD UPDATE: Looks like the Legion of Doom is planning to hold its own Middle East "peace process" chinwag in Tehran. Of course, their plan will be much simpler than anything coming out of Annapolis: Kill Israel.

The thing that gets me - on a regular basis - is that peace is not a process. And so far, as far as I can remember for the last 25 or 35 years, the "process" has not resulted in peace.

Talking leads to nothing but more talking. And if your enemies are talking while arming, well then it seems we haven't even learned the lessons of the Treaty of Berlin - you know, when Neville Chamberlain told everyone to go home and have a good sleep because he had talked Germany into peace. (He didn't mention the effect on Bulgaria, but then he didn't have any relatives in that part of the world.)

Relax, you're just detoxing from the Episcopal Church blah,blah... They are the Queens of Peace, literally...

Besides, we already have peace in the Middle East. Yes, we most certainly do. In 1993 at bible study class at Christ Church Bloomfield Hills my female priest and daughter-in-law to Presiding Bishop Edmund Browning's secretary at 815 declared that peace had come to the middle east now and forever as it was the day after day Bill Clinton did the photo op with Arafat and Yitzhak Rabin.

So all that Islamic terrorism in the last 14 years as well as Yitzhak Rabin's assasination by a Jewish zealot is just part of the peace process...

Oops...that should read:
