Happy Birthday, Spam!

Hormel's iconic product hit the market this day in 1937. Many the early Saturday evening do I recall in my yoot eating a dinner of Spam, Spaghettios and Handy Andy brand soda and watching Hee Haw or Marlin Perkins' Wild Kingdom whilst the parental units made a bolt for the door and Civilisation.

And now, because you know I'm going to do it, cue the Vikings!

HAH! to truly sample the culinery potential of this wonder meat, you need to attend the annual Waikiki Spam Jam. The close down Kalakaua Ave and all of the chefs from all of the high end restaurants offer their creations. It is a blast.

Took in the Spam Museum in Austin, Minnesota on our family car trip a few weeks ago...highly recommended (I kid you not!). One of the exhibits includes a perpetual showing of this very Monty Python skit. Cheers!
