"The More You Tighten Your Grip, The More Systems Will Slip Through Your Fingers"

Somebody suggested a BYO-Bishop conversion party in comments to my last post about going to Rome. Well, here ya go: The Rt. Rev. Daniel Herzog, just-retired Palie Bishop of Albany, and his wife have swum the Tiber. (Yips! to Michael F. for tossing that one in the Tasty Bits (TM) Mail Sack.)

Between that and this week's secession of Grace and St. Stephens, the largest Episcopal parish in Colorado, I'm sensing a definite uptick in the tempo of splintering of the ECUSA.

YIPS from Steve-O:

Robbo, I AM your eschatological primate! Fear the Lord Schorri!

UPDATE from Robbo: Whoops! that someone I mentioned above was, in fact, the Colossus, who also provided a link to the story. Mea culpa for not following through on his link.

No problemo. Figured you probably have more than one source for the Episco-pocalypse, anyway.

Second former bishop to leave today, it seems -- Bishop Cox has decided that rather than face trial by the 815, he's going to Nigeria.

It kind of brings to mind the old phrase "Strike the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered . . . "

Of course, swimming the Tiber is not the only escape route from the Episco-pocalypse (lovely turn of phrase, that) for the conservative minded. Many Eastern Orthodox are former Episcopalians, including my Dad, one former priest (still a priest, I moved) and several others I know personally.

If you're concerned about all that infallibility and whatnot, the Orthodox don't bother. There's even Latin rite orthodox.
