Gratuitous Netflix Observation
This may sound silly, but I really really like the Warner Home Video tag - you know, the one with the cascading keyboard music and the sky full of rolling white clouds.
It can't last more than about three or four seconds, but I always find it immensely refreshing.
(Cripes - I'll be breaking out my old Enya CD's before I know it.)

What I like more is when they adapt the WB logo to the overall look of the particular movie. Like at the beginning of the 1989 "Batman".
More recently, they gave a "bronze age" look to the logo at the beginning of "300". Very Cool. Kudos to the creative types who come up with this.

Yeah, she looks a little too...Hillary-ish.
Overall, I think WB and Universal are the best at that kind of logo-to-movie thing. Just off the top of my head, I don't recall that the other big studios do it at all.
Posted by: Robbo the LB at March 20, 2007 12:41 PMI also like the THX Certified mega-super-magnificent pan effect. I watch DVD's on my Mac with a 23" Cinema HD display and a pro audio sound system (Since my computer doubles as my recording studio as well) with Tannoy monitors and a THX Certified Bryston power amp. It's far more bad ass than any "regular" home theater for close-up solo watching, and I sit as rapt as a ten year old when the little THX dealie plays.
And there's nothing wrong with Enya. Sure, she's inconsistent, but when she nails one she hits it out of the park. The synths on the older stuff do sound kinda dorky and dated now, though (The DX-7 bell really makes me laugh, since it was in the Taco Bell ads for so long).
But, I digress...
