This Man Needs Coffee and Crullers, STAT!
On nights when I can't get my brain to shut down, I tend to have the same dream. In it, I'm usually trying to prevent something terrible from happening to the Llama-ettes. Typically, I reach a point where I think I have awakened from it. However, that's just part of the dream - In reality, I'm still asleep. The second part of the dream consists of discovering the hard way that my bedroom has been booby-trapped, generally with knives but sometimes arrows or large weights as well.
I don't wake up from such nights feeling particularly rested.
Yawn.

I blame Al Gore.
Posted by: rbj at February 20, 2007 10:58 AMI'm going to sound like a religious crank, I know, but I sleep better after reciting the hour of Compline, particularly the ancient hymns Te Lucis Ante Terminum and Visita, Quaesumus Domine. I've been saying the nightly prayers since before Christmas, and find they generally help sleep.
I'm not sure what the exact equivalent is in the Anglican world, but Wikipedia says that this is Compline from the ECUSA 1979 Book of Common Prayer.

Posted by: The Colossus at February 20, 2007 02:22 PMIn fact, there is a Compline in the BoCP. Your idea really isn't a bad one a-tall.
Posted by: Robbo the LB at February 20, 2007 04:44 PMWell Robbo, not being a religious person at all, I have had horrible dreams about my sons. I still do. Try to think about why you might have had that dream, and try to come to terms with it in the waking world. That's what I try to do.
It seems to me that your dream centers around the fact that the ettes are not yet able to take care of themselves. This is a true thought, embrace it, they are still under your care. You will bat an eye and they will be gone...
It could be worse - Steve-O's brain never starts up.
