Phin, Jen (formerly Jen Speaks), this is in your future

I used to wonder why potty training was such a big deal to parents of small children, after all, isn't it a lot like house-breaking pets? Now I know better. If this keeps up, the chances of the Future ROTC Scholarship Recipient getting the family car for a date with some skanky cheerleader in 13 or 14 years are looking remote.

Potty training is probably the worst part of having kids. It was easier getting my kids off the bottle than getting them out of diapers. Daughter will be three in a couple weeks and she doesn't want to be bothered with the potty.

I'm learning of this through my sister and her kids - 3 year old daughter just about potty trained and a 2 year old son sort of interested in the potty when it suits him.

At least we get the cute and cuddly baby first.

The greatest day of the decade of the 1990's was the first time I went to the grocery store and did NOT buy a humongous package of dispoable diapers.

How my saintly mother made it through 6 kids, each spaced about 2 years apart, with cloth diapers she had to wash herself is a mystery to me, except that she remarks quite frequently that we kids still all owe her really, really big, and I'm 46 already.
