Blogad Etiquette Question
So what exactly is the protocol in terms of commenting on blog ads posted to one's own site by, well, whoever it is who posts them? I'm prompted to ask by the unexpected appearance of the Ben & Jerry's ad over to the left there. Not our usual stuff, I think you'll agree.
Am I allowed to say what I think of its "What if the Defense Department Had To Hold A Bake Sale To Raise Money For A New Bomber?" bumper-sticker mentality? Or by agreeing to host the ad am I cut off from commenting on it?
(I expect there's something in the blogads agreement about it, but obviously I'm too lazy to look it up.)
Posted by Robert at August 19, 2006 11:03 AM | TrackBackYou're not seriously saying you have anything against more pie, are you? Do you hate kids and Jerry Garcia, too?
You must be a conservative. I bet your kids have plenty of pie and Jerry Garcia.
Heh.
Posted by: tee bee at August 19, 2006 11:41 AMTis the reason I use a free blogging service, Blogger aka Blogspot, and don't allow ads. I don't deal with money on my blog.
I avoid all the money issues.
But I think you need to read that ad agreement, use a microscope, to see what your options are.
Posted by: Marvin at August 19, 2006 11:43 AMBuying an ad does not constitute your endorsement of a product.
If you want to criticize the product, do it. Just don't expect them to advertise with you again.
When I was on blogads I always freely pointed out ads I supported, and those I did not support. George Soros himself once bought an ad from me, and you (probably) know how negatively I feel about him and his network. But he bought the ad, I accepted it, then I even linked it saying, "Well I thank Mr. Soros for his ad even though I thoroughly disagree with most of what he has to say."
Problem solved, really.

Still not as good as Blue Bell, though.
