How do you convert wav files copied onto a Windows machine to play on Media Player so that you can play them using itunes?

Don't tell me I have to re-copy all those durn disks...

Probably you are screwed. You can try copying one of your .wma files from your PC and see if it will import it (file/import). My guess is no. Even if iTunes can recognize the .wma file, the copy protection (curse the RIAA for its mad protection racket) will probably block the copying. You could convert all the files to an unprotected format and then reimport into iTunes, but with data loss and time it takes to convert, probably isn't worth it. MPEG-4 is much better compression than .wma anyway. You will have better quality sound.

If they are .wav files, iTunes will probably play them as they are, and if it won't, there are some sound utilities that will convert .wav to .aiff, including some freebies such as Spark ME.

You should be able to import them, but it is true that a pure mp4 file has better sound quality.
