"There is a name for my pain and it is

'Shane'" to paraphrase Jack Nicholson from his Batman movie. Shane is some high-school senior who swept our babysitter off her feet and away from our kids. Bastard. Phin, you will soon know what it is to find a good babysitter and then lose her to her first boyfriend. Jen, formerly Jen Speaks, you are not far behind Phin.

the pain, the pain.....

I'm in negotiations with the missus about the purchase, I mean, adoption, of a 17 year old Vietnamese girl to help with the phinlet.

She's not buying in to it right now, but I'm going to strike when he's worn her down. I figure slipping uppers into his night-time feeding should speed up the sleep deprivation process and enable me to act sooner rather than later.

Yes, Woody Allen is my role model why do you ask?

Our next door neighbor already offered up her 15 year old daughter for babysitting.

Take her up on it but keep in mind it will not last forever. Our first babysitter was the fifteen year old daughter of one of our secretaries. Things went well for the occasional night out until the Future ROTC Scholarship Recipient decided to throw up on her, and not just a little spitup, I mean soaking, projectile vomiting. We lucked into Sitter No. 2 when it happened that one of the partners has a daughter that plays volleyball with No. 2.

Heh.

We also have my parents just 10 minutes away. Not that we plan to abuse them as babysitters. And we have a good church with lots of teenagers.

I've done the babysitting thing. The nice girls that the kids like barely get broken in when they get boyfriends who spoil it all for parents. This happened to me about 5 times.

Then there's the time when your kids are too old for a babysitter and too young to be left alone.
