Government travel

Big Army recently decreed that all Soldiers on government domestic travel orders will do so in uniform which for me is the ACU, the new Army digital pattern uniform. I was in Huntsville last weekend via Charlotte. For of the misgivings the public is supposed to have about the conduct of the Global War on Terror, you never would have known it by the comments, thanks, and handshakes I received from perfect strangers in the airports. I did not hear an unkind word nor was I assaulted by so much as a dirty look.

I love the digital camo, even though when I see it I always think they should have used a less lossy compression algorithm.

Is that going to become standard? Will the Guard and Reserve guys have to do that too? My husband is ANG, and he's always told to travel in his civvies.

GroovyVic, it is Army-wide policy, including the Guard and Reserve. Yours truly is a reservist with a little over three years on active duty (many moons ago) and the rest in the USAR.

Oh, Husband is in the Air National Guard.

(Sorry about my error...it was early...)

Glad you got a good reaction, LMC. I make it a point to smile, wave, shake hands with, buy lunch for, or otherwise acknowledge anyone I see in uniform. Horribly awkward for me, since I'm an introvert's introvert, but I really appreciate what y'all are doing for us.
