Flash In The Pan 80's Babes

Mia Sara, aka Sloane Peterson from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

"Do you have a kiss for Daddy?"

The Missus maintains that Sloane is the one weak point of FBDO because nobody really dressed and looked like that - particularly the long, straight, Nature-girl hair thing - in the swankier Chicago suburbs of the mid-80's and that she looks better suited to California. In the spirit of tolerance, of course, I am quite happy to overlook this anomaly.

According to her bio, Sara has been drifting along at the lower middle level of Hollywood for most of her career, doing guest shots on various tee vee shows and making a few movies I've never heard of. It's a shame, because as you can see, she's still very easy on the eyes:

First seen prancing with the young Tom Cruise in some fantasy film whose name I no longer recall.

That would be "Legend". Mu.nu's spam blocker isn't letting me post the link to IMDB, but it's film tt0089469 there.

Directed by Ridley Scott, oddly enough. She was the best thing in it. Granted, that's not saying much.

FBDO is one of my favorite movies. It was the first movie I ever literally rolled on the floor laughing my ass off. And that was in the theater!

When it came out I was, what, 16? So it was more fantasy for me, given that whole trip around Chicago thing.

When I see someone like her not getting a lot of work, my first thought is "Oh. She must be a Republican."

Or, I suppose, she has kids to raise or some such thing.

I've never seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off; but speaking of early Tom Cruise movies, the other day I caught Risky Business on tv. No big deal, except the channel was ABC Family Channel. Huh?

Wow, that was *Sloane* playing the evil psychiatrist on the series Birds of Prey? I never even made the connection -- thanx, Robbo!...

Good point about the hair -- a cheerleader in the 80s with un-permed hair? A bigger fantasy than Legend [I loved the movie, saw it on cable gazillions of times].

Well, you know the Missus - Ol' Eagle Eye herself.

I don't recall her being a cheerleader. I do recall that the character seemed a bit more "refined" and that most of the other female characters DID have big hair. And remember Cameron used a fake accent when pretending to be her dad on the phone? I think she was supposed to be exotic, not the standard Chicago Chick.

As Claude Van Damme's wife in TimeCop, poor Ms. Sara hit both the bottom of her career and the top of the hotness scale.

An exotic? Peterson?

Yeah, that's exotic in the midwest.

Who's the guy who played VP Rooney? Jones? He was a blast in his next flick, "Howard the Duck".

With the bottom picture all I see is eclaires and Norelco razors...
