SPAM-KU

My dirty little secret is SPAM, that culinary delight from the fine folks at Hormel. My wife banned it from Fort LMC shortly after we married and she could always tell when I indulged in my guilty pleasure: sliced thin, fried crispy on both sides. For those that share my little obsesson is this font of SPAM haiku known to those in the know as SPAM-ku.

Tasty SPAM mixed with rice,
Cooked over an open flame,
Camping ambrosia.

If you havn't tried the hickory smoked flavored Spam you are really missing out. It tastes like fatless bacon. Great at Boy Scout campouts to avoid the standard grease fire from cooking bacon over wood.

I'm in the same boat -- I love the stuff, my wife hates it. She also thinks my love of fried bologna is gross.

I've been Spam Free for several years. In my bachelor days, it was the stand-by emergency meat, I used to fry it and use it as the meat in spagetti sauace. My then girlfriend, now my wife, put a stop to it. Now, when I want SPAM, it has to be cooked outside...

I do have a SPAM ball cap...

My favorite way to serve it is in Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Baked Beans, and Spam, but without the baked beans.
