This Is Interesting News

It seems John Boehner has upset Roy Blunt to take over as GOP House Majority Leader.

I confess that I haven't followed the race too closely, except to believe that the election of John Shadegg would have sent the clearest "reform" signal and that the election of Roy Blunt (a fomer DeLay deputy) would have been bad news.

Call this a qualified win, I suppose.

Of course, The Corner is all over it.

All the cool internet kids wanted Shadegg. Naturally, that made me distrust him.

That's funny, I had the same thought. Except that those same cool kids weren't too excited about Harriet Myers either and I think we ended up with a much better justice. So we'll see how this plays out.

I really like Alito; he seemed very thoughtful during the hearings. Me and Hugh Hewitt were about the only ones for Harriet Miers as I remember, but I have to agree with you; I think he turned out better than she could have. Alito just beat them to death with his knowledge of Constiutional law and precedent, and had the Dems gone negative on Harriet -- as they would have, because it's in their DNA -- she would not have held up as well, what with her Earl Warren Burger slips and all.
