GO AHEAD, DO IT-YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO
Drudge links to an NYT editorial calling for a filibuster of the Alito nomination. It is time to bring this business of judicial filibusters to an end by going nuclear.
Posted by LMC at January 26, 2006 02:43 PM | TrackBackLooks like Kerry reads the NYT. He's calling for a filibuster right now.
Posted by: Sobek at January 26, 2006 04:45 PMI've heard that there are at least 5 Dems who have said they wouldn't support the filibuster. I do believe that gives us our supermajority....
Posted by: Brian B at January 26, 2006 05:10 PMNelson (NE), Byrd (WV) and Johnson (SC) all plan to vote for him, and Landrieu (LA) says she won't filibuster, so that's four. I don't know of any others.
Kerry says Kennedy supports a filibuster. So do I, in fact, although only for the collateral effect it will have on the nuclear option.
Posted by: Sobek at January 26, 2006 05:39 PMAnd Harry Reid says he doesn't support the filibuster.
Makes me wonder why Kerry's so interested in setting himself up for failure.
Posted by: Sobek at January 26, 2006 05:52 PMYet another reason John Forbes Kerry why isn't POTUS.
Posted by: KMR at January 26, 2006 07:32 PMNYT: "All the whatever libs find fit to print"
Posted by: KMR at January 26, 2006 07:35 PMCarter, Kerry, Gore... what is it with Democrats who lose presidential elections and the whole off-the-deep-end thing?
Posted by: Brian B at January 27, 2006 09:12 AMOn the other hand, I haven't heard much out of Mondale or Dukakis recently. So at least we've got that going for us.
Posted by: Sobek at January 27, 2006 12:04 PM'S true....
Posted by: Brian B at January 27, 2006 02:59 PMHarry Reid now saying that he will cast filibuster vote on Monday just to 'send a message' even though there's no chance of success. But, hey, we still aren't hearing anything out of Mondale or Dukakis--so there's still that.
