Where's Robbo?
Compliments of the Missus, I've been playing around with this all afternoon: Age of Mythology - Gold Edition.
It's basically a souped up version of Age of Empires. However, instead of a bunch of priests standing around and saying, "Aiyo! Aiyo! No no noooo," the religion component is covered by all sorts of mythical beasties and heroes. Plus, it has some coo-el God effects, like being able to call a meteor shower down on the bad guy camp. I still haven't figured all of these components out, but the crisp yet seductive British Babe-voiced tutorial is slowly working me through it.
Posted by Robert at December 28, 2005 06:22 PM | TrackBackI'm with you. When I went to the Apple store to get a gift I picked AoM up for myself and spent the good part of the week prior to Christmas playing it. Unfortunately, I don't have much patience and cheated terribly, but enjoyed it thoroughly. Unfortunately, Macs don't get a lot of new games so I missed out on the Gold edition and its expansion pack. Anyway. Good times!
Posted by: Misspent at December 28, 2005 11:34 PMVery Tempting, Rob. Since I now have the CivIV patch (and still am working on the Civ III to Civ IV switchover) I'm content to stay where I am, game-wise. However, I do like AOE and AOE:II, as well as TW:Rome. Hmm. This might need further study.
Posted by: Lysander at December 29, 2005 04:59 PMGotta go with Resident Evil 4. Good camera angles, creepy critters, lots of backsplash. I realize it is kind of old, but I get an atavistic thrill every time I pop it in.
