Yikes, I Am Bad!

take the WHAT BAD BOOK ARE YOU test.

Starring Vigo Mortensen, no doubt. With Special Guest Appearance by Madonna as Grendel's Mom. [Ed. Nope - looks like they thought of someone else.]

I have to confess that I really don't much like this saga - it haunted me all through my high school and college career, subtly chanting, "Spam! Spam! Spam! Spam!" until all I could say was, "Bloody Vikings!"

Yips! to Mr. Brian Baggins.

I'm Thomas Pynchon's "The Crying of Lot 49."

I never read it, but there's a summary here that had me laughing:

Becuase my life is just like that.

I started to take the quiz and encountered a term that I find quite objectionable and so I closed the window.

How that page managed to open at all is a mystery since we have Websense running here at Father Justice.

I happen to really like Beowulf - the new translation is quite good. And its more like the predecessor of stories like Lord of the Rings....

I really liked the Seamus Heany translation. Did you read that one? I've never been fond of the other, older ones - clearly completely lost in the translation. Jam-a-needle-in-my-eye bad. There's a movie version with Christopher Lambert that's pretty funny.

I took the test, but I have to say it's not going to look good - I had to fight my instinct to pick choices like "author likes genocide" and "i'm all about killing people who are distantly related to you."

Crying Lot / 49, not meant to be understood. Self-evident, to be sure.

Steve - if they ditched Angelina Jolie, it would be practically perfect. Crispin Glover as Grendal! Angelina will probably try to get Brad worked in there somewhere.

I know, I hate "postmodernism" too.
