Holy crap!
Axis Sully? Admitting he was wrong on Iraq (not in supporting it, but by going all hysterical housewife on the kitchen chair after seeing a mouse)? No way!
Way.
My guess? The fund-raising bonanza has been spent down fixing the exploding toilet and buying leather accessories for the beagle. Look for a newly chastened "I was always with ya" Sully doing a full force spring pledge drive in about two weeks.
Support a real blogger instead.

This does go some way in redeeming him in my eyes. But he should have said "I am sorry that I got so blinded over the issue of Gay Marriage that it changed my views on Iraq." This would be a fairer description of what happened to him. As soon as Bush came out for the FMA, Sullivan entered the Bizarro world where everything Bush did was wrong, John Kerry was "a true conservative", etc. It was the lens through which he judged everything last fall. Perhaps that is changing. I'm not prepared to put money on that, though.
I will do a wait and see on him. If I hear more good reports on his behavior, I will consider removing my No Sullivan on My Blog pronouncement.

It's getting pretty hard for anybody to pretend any longer that Iraq was a Vietnam-quagmire-type mistake; maybe Sullivan just realized that his position on the issue makes him look idiotic and hypocritical, and that this could seriously derail his next big "bandwidth" fundraiser.
