I Think I'm Being Profiled

My new commute involves about a fifteen minute walk between 6th Street and Metro Center here in Your Nation's Capital. Every afternoon as I saunter along D and E Streets, I pass some Earnest Young Things shilling for the Kerry Campaign.

For some reason, they never ask me if I want to contribute. I begin to think this is because I look, you know, conservative to them. Sort of NQOKD, if you know what I mean.

Frankly, I'm insulted. I learned long ago on my mother's knee never to assume, because it makes an "ass" of "u" and "me". But this is exactly what these kids are doing.

An outrage, I tell you.

(BTW, if they ever do solicite me, I already have a bunch of questions lined up. I'll be sure to post the results. Poaching on INDCent Bill's Moonbat Hunting Ground, I suppose, but there's plenty of game to go around.)

You're wandering around Metro Central? Jeez, I used to work there two decades ago. Brings back memories. I know the place I used to work has gone but is Old Ebbetts Grill still there?

Yes, indeed. Also, I doubt you'd recognize the area if you haven't been here in a while. Swanked up considerably. And there is a huge amount of renovation and new construction going on between 10th and 6th Streets these days. I am routinely blinded by all the dust that gets under my contacts.

You can have the ones in the Cake Eater neighborhood.

They've planted themselves squarely in the midst of a Republican territory and yet they bravely attack...er...approach every passerby, asking, "Would you like to learn how to remove George W. Bush from the White House?" Talk about flawed strategy at the grassroots level.

I've been assaulted by four sets (and counting!) since the end of the convention. Urgh.

Lucky you. The MoveOn orcs - they're everywhere in the Bay Area, human chlamydia - always hit me up

I'm going to try that sort of Alan Alda-ish look of sensitive despair this afternoon and see if that doesn't hook 'em in.
