Lies! Lies! Nasty, Wicked, Tricksy, False!
I honestly don't know why I even look at these things since it's very bad for my blood pressure, but here is a run down of additional scenes from the upcoming extended version of The Return of the King. (Please, don't read it if you want to be surprised.)
Just from glancing over this, I can see that the movie - in keeping with tradition - bolloxes both the end of Saruman and Aragorn's trip on the Paths of the Dead.
We hates it! We haaaates it! We hates it forever!
Yipsssss! to Jeff.
Posted by Robert at September 17, 2004 09:56 AM | TrackBackNow, now, Robert. What you need to do is to listen to the entire books on tapes trilogy - I do that while I drive to work. Cures my road rage and it's really the only other thing that does proper justice to the books.
Just be sure you get the ones that are unabridged, not dramatizations and are read my Robert Ingliss. Trust me. 48 hours of commuting pleasure, that.
Posted by: willow at September 17, 2004 11:31 AMI, on the other hand, can't wait.
Posted by: Dan at September 17, 2004 11:55 AMI don't care! It has Gandalf vs. the Witch King. All other sins are forgiven.
Posted by: Andrew Duncalfe at September 17, 2004 12:26 PMNrrrg! Gasp! Ack!
But Andrew - If the movie already muffed the arrival of the Rohirrim (which is supposed to happen just as the gates of Minas Tirith fall and Gandalf is staring down the Witch King in the courtyard just behind them), what does the showdown matter now? So far as I'm concerned, the dramatic point has been blown already.
Posted by: Robert the Llama Butcher at September 17, 2004 03:47 PMOh calm down. It's still better than any of us could have expected.
Stupidest scene: at the end of Two Towers, when Frodo offers the Ring to one of the Nazgul in Osgiliath, thus giving away the whole plot to Sauron
Posted by: jeff at September 17, 2004 07:42 PMHey Llama, tanks a lot for this little snippet about the ROTK extended cut. Can't wait till I discover it under my tree this December!

Though I agree it's a stupid shot, and that it's stupid they're in Osgiliath at all, the Enemy already knows that that Baggins from the Shire has the Ring. If anything, it would make them think it's going to used as a weapon against them.
