This is Just Wrong

Jessica Simpson to play Daisy Duke.

The whole concept of a movie version of The Dukes of Hazzard - with different people playing the characters - is just plain wrong. Wrong, wrong. wrong.

Give me just one example of a really successful movie remake of an iconic television series. Just one. Jeesh. Might as well get Leonardo DiCaprio to play Jim Kirk, David Spade to play Gilligan and Pamela Anderson to play Mary Richards while we're at it.

BTW, I still haven't got the faintest idea who this Jessica Simpson person is anyway.

"Starsky and Hutch" was recently remade by Ben Stiller and some other guy. It was successful financially. If that is the criteria for "successful" you were looking for.

In all honesty, I didn't like the TV show (S&H) and haven't seen the movie.

I do know who Jessica Simpson is. And I've even watched about 30 minutes of that show she is on with her husband. She is easy on the eye, and hard on the brain.

I never saw the original, but I'll bet purists were pretty cranky about the movie. I'd guess most of the movie audience was probably too young to have remembered the original as well - I don't think S&H reruns get played very often these days.

"Leonardo DiCaprio to play Jim Kirk, David Spade to play Gilligan and Pamela Anderson to play Mary Richards" -- dear God, don't give anyone any more ideas like that!...

(I was a fan of the original S&H, and the TV ads for the movie were cringe-inducing enough to keep me out of the theatre...)

Oh, I got millions of 'em.......

I saw both the series and the movie. I turned the movie off half way through...it blew (but then again, the series wasn't that great either).

Why in the name of all that's Hazzard would they have Jessica Simpson play Daisy Duke? Daisy was the smart one!

"Lost in Space" was an entertaining movie. Quite different in tone than the original, but I thought it rather successful in what it tried to do.
