Gratuitous South Park Review

I stopped watching South Park on a regular basis a while back, but I did catch last night's new episode. Two quick thoughts:

1. I'll bet the Scientologist High Command is livid this morning. Heh, indeed.

2. Stan's first, "Mooo-om! Tom Cruise won't come out of the closet!" was hysterical, but the gag should have been dropped then and there. Matt and Trey have a tendency to hammer a joke to death sometimes and I thought this went on far too long, especially with the whole business of adding Travolta and R. Kelly to the mix. Finesse, gentlemen!

That is all.

UPDATE: Tainted Bill liked it too.

Yips on the closet joke, although I enjoyed the poking fun at R Kelly's stupid closet song.

Did you notice that all of the credits at the end were John and Jane Doe? I thought that was a clever continuation of the joke about Scientologists' threatening to sue.

Yes, that was pretty funny.

Another thing I noticed was that although they went after Cruise, they pretty much left Katie alone. Wonder if this is a signal they think she's been shang-hied into this whole business.

Darn, I missed it. Hmm. Several other chances to see it, starting 10 PM tonight.

The South Park schedule is here

I will have to say that the funniest episode of South Park in ages was the first episode of this season--the global warming/katrina one. It was fantastic and reminded me why I still watch South Park after last season's full slate of lackluster shows.

Damn, I missed it.
Probably my favorite one was the Schmore Schnapps/Civil War one. Living in South Carolina at the time, they hit it right on the head, wrapping up the fighting part there.
I don't mind the lackluster shows, you gotta put something out every week and I'll forgive their bad shows in exchange for their dead on ones.

I was like, huh. Have heard all that before (about Scientology). SP is soooo sued!

What the hell kind of bike was Stan getting? He had at least $240 saved up, and still he would not spend the monies!

OK, finally saw it. It is good, and I don't think they overdid the closet thing.
