FROM THE GRAVEYARD OF GREAT EIGHTIES GIRL BANDS
Whatever happened to The Bangles? I surfed over to the "official site" and it seems the only thing they have booked is a few shows on California. Best songs from breakthrough cassette: "Walk Like an Egyptian" and "Angel's Touch." No confirmed sightings in a long time; last seen doing the Bangles Egyptian strut down the street.

Brought low by the wrecthed film "The All Nighter." A film so bad it killed the careers of the 2nd best girl band of the 1980s. (Though I think Brits would place them third behind Bananarama). In first place was the Go-Gos, who had a similarly inexplicable mid-80s flame out.
The *best* girl band of the '80s. I heard they came out with a "comeback" CD a couple of years ago, and looking it up on Amazon I see that the first cut is an Elvis Costello tune...I guess I better go and get my hands on it. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.
Posted by: Chan S. at March 23, 2005 01:38 PMWord I heard is that the Bangles imploded from the "rock & roll" life, putting most male bands to shame with the sex and drugs portions of the popular saying.
