Just Justice?
I'm a little late on this one, but Jeff Goldstein is guest bartending over at Martini Boy's place and has posted a thought-provoking piece.
A wee excerpt:
{...}often times the sanctimony we build into our laws eclipses our natural human desire for vengeance -- sometimes to good affect. But by arguing that in all situations our restraint is a sign of our being civilized and deliberate, we are suggesting, implicitly, that we as a society don't have the capacity to draw distinctions between the severity of disparate acts.{...}Posted by Kathy at March 19, 2005 01:48 PM
I regularly read Jeff Goldstein (I love protein wisdom) and occasionally read Vodkapundit. I've been watching Jeff's guest blogging there with curiosity. I don't imagine Green's readers are all that different in political perspective from Jeff's, but they seem to be all over Jeff because of his style. Jeff is unique (I'll avoid Robbo's wrath and won't say "one of the most unique"), and his humor is conceptual. He's something of an acquired taste.
It's amazing to me though, how unreceptive a few of Vodkapundit's readers have been. They don't seem to be willing to give Jeff a chance.
