Walking In A Winter Wonderland

Monday and Tuesday, me bum nearly froze off as I walked to the office. Yesterday, a balmy, spring-like day, I had to take my jacket off as I sauntered across the Mall. Today it is even warmer and raining. Tomorrow, another Fed-Ex delivery of air straight from the Yukon gets to town. By Saturday, the high won't even break the freezing mark.

Winter in Washington. It's not polar, but it's certainly bi-polar.

Trust me, it's a helluva lot better than sweaty llama bum!

Definitely bipolar. It's almost tropical today compared to Tuesday.

And just think, all the rain, mist, and whatnot coming in today is going to make a damn fine sheet of ice when the Canadian air comes to town (though, it is bringing a baseball team. I'd be more excited if I actually cared about baseball. Oh well, go Nats - even if you didn't come to No. Va.!)

What was that? DC residents can't drive when there's a snowflake within 100 miles, so how do I expect them to drive on ice? Uh. Yea. Abandon your cars now!

It's currently -12 here and I'm about ready to light a fire because the furnace isn't keeping up.

Wanna come visit?

Are you kidding? Lysander's right - we're all too busy squirreling away bottled water, batteries and canned food against the Killer Icicles to have time to be travelling now!

Heh.

Rob -

Maybe Jeff was right and my cousin's crying (http://www.shapeofdays.com/2004/12/comcast_makes_b.html) because the sky just opened up here in Alex. Or, it's just adding a few feet to the ice sheets we're gonna get tomorrow. Global Warming anybody? But I digress.

Bottled water and canned goods? What happened to the DC special hoardings of Milk, Eggs, and Toilet Paper. Not even enough to make Fren... uh, are we still doing the Freedom bit? ;) ... toast, because there's no bread. Never understood it; not even after experiencing the pre-snowstorm rushed back on 2000 after moving here.

I feel like it's a Monty Python skit - but instead of "Bring ooot yer dead!" it's "Abandon yer cars now!"

>:)
