Going to Dallas

Okay, I'm going to Dallas for a couple of days for a conference. Anybody have any suggestions of any places to eat etc.? I'm not bringing the laptop with me and so I'll probably be radio-silent until Tuesday.

Kathy and Sadie, this means your big opportunity to use your key to stately LLama Manor (you know, the one under the flowerpot on the back porch) for some completely merciless pshop rueage and mockage of my end of the business, of which I would not be able to respond to defend my honor for @96 hours. Heck, the Scottish Dwarf might even make a return....

If you don't find at least one good barbecue joint to go to, I'm writing you out of my will.

The Mansion, of course. And Chuy's.

Steve, when will you be in town? The State Fair is currently open, and this weekend is the big Texas-OU game at the Cotton Bowl. Plan your journeys downtown accordingly.

What are you in the mood for? Mexican, Steak, BBQ?

You can't beat the fancy steakhouses along the Dallas North Tollway - especially III Forks and Del Frisco's. If you're staying downtown, try The Palm in the West End. Or, go across the street from there and get a burger at Dick's Last Resort.

There's a great Japanese place near Knox-Henderson and US75 called Tei Tei Robata. Very good food both raw and cooked.

Or try Texas de Brasil or Fogo de Chao for an unforgettable all-you-can-eat Atkins experience.

Baker's Rib and Sonny Bryan's BBQ are both good.

For Mexican, Chuy's is fine. MiCocina is good too. I like El Fenix mainly as a 75+ year old institution. It's fun to play taco-roulette at Taquerias in the Hispanic parts of town, too. You need some Spanish to do that. (Tongue tacos are pretty good).

You can do some sightseeing and shopping at NorthPark mall (close to the old money section of Dallas) or the Dallas Galleria (closer to the new money).

Email me for more info. Have fun.

Three words:
Red River Shootout!

Dude, drop me a line soon, and them get the llamaettes together and drive through here on the way to your old stomping grounds...whenever you get the chance.

Had an adult beverage with the ol' associate rector (who has Lime Disease) a few weeks back.

Love to see you.
