Revenge of the Nerds
Geek Chic. I suppose this is marginally better than the old Alan Alda "Mr. Sensitivity" alternative to the alpha male movie idol, but not by much.

I may be a bit of a geek, but I still doubt this is a real trend and I would object if it were. It sounds a little like the perennial claim that "plus-size" women are about to become the new sex symbols, so regular women can stop obsessing about their weight.
