I WOULDN'T BET ON ALLEN

XDONK follows in his role as Marcy to Senator George Allen's Peppermint Patty in the run-up to Allen's run for the White House in Oh-Eight.

The problem is, however, he's got to get reelected in Oh-Six, and Governor Mark Warner--who is also weighing a run for the presidency---is making noises about running against Allen. A Rassmussen poll has Warner out front, but as it's based on a sample of 500 likely voters, it's about as useful as a fortune cookie at this point.

Yips! from Robbo: Speaking of Warner, Stephen Moore has an article up about him in today's OpinionJournal.

I don't know that Warner would win ultimately - his tax increase push, when we didn't need it and actually had a $1B surplus, is a big detractor for his governorship. My 2 cents.

Aw, c'mon Steve. It's not like I call him "sir" or anything.

Frankly, I think Warner's big problem, if he were to run nationally, would be with his own party. He may be a tax & spend guy, but I don't think the moonbat left has the self-discipline to let such a centrist take the reins. Hillary they might accept, because nobody really believes her. But Warner is too much of a gen-u-ine DLC type.
