Mrs. LMC saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show last night at home for the first time. The flick really ought to be seen at around midnight in a beer cinema with enough adult beverages flowing to keep a righteous buzz going, not to mention members of the audience acting out the scenes (fueled by said adult beverages). Sad to say, but it was probably the height of Susan Sarandon's career; she certainly looked pretty good, not to mention her character demonstrated a certain, how shall we say it, "zest for living."

Over the course of three years in the late 80's, I managed to watch the midnight showing in Memphis 126 times. Looking back, I now realize why I never had a date on Saturday night.

(sigh) I warned you.

The height of Sarandon's career? Did you not see Bull Durham? That is, at least, my personal favorite of hers. Atlantic City? Dead Man Walking? Oscars? glory? She became an A-list actress many years AFTER rocky horror. She actually thought that her career might be over after doing that movie. hahaha Little did she know it would become a cult classic.

I did love her in Rocky Horror. "touch-a touch-a touch me ... I want to be diiirrrrrteeee..." She's such a nut. I love her career.

I saw Rocky Horror in college in a huge auditorium - at midnight - with 500 people who knew every single damn word to the film - and all showed up in costume. There was dancing in the aisles, and general mayhem. You definitely lose something, I think, when you sit and watch it like a regular movie. I still think it's hysterical, but there's nothing like that live event.

I don't get the attraction of Rocky Horror. I first saw it in high school and later in college, and found it revolting.

I've got to go with Red on this one - Normally I dislike Sarandon, but her Annie in Bull Durham was just about perfect.

I've never watched it, successfully, beginning to end. I had friends who were really into it, and would go to showings with the raincoats, squirt guns, hot dogs, toilet paper, et al. and thought it was the greatest thing ever.

Just never interested me.

colossus - raincoats and squirt guns ... hahahahaha exactly! Such a bizarre ritual, really.
