DEWINE FEELING THE HEAT
The Senator must be feeling the heat. Limbaugh played up that his son, Pat, once the front runner for an Ohio congressional seat, came in fourth in yesterday's primary. Safe to say the conservative base is pissed off (Pat's marital problems did not help his situation). That deal on judges now does not seem to have been such a good idea with both DeWine the Elder and Lindsay Graham backing off and both have more or less indicated they will support the president's judicial nominees. With Cheney's tie breaker, the Republicans have enough votes for a showdown. Steve-O, I know you think the Republicans should not pick a fight over the nuclear option with a Supreme Court vacancy in the offing, energy bill, private accounts for Social Security, etc, but Bolton's nomination proves the libs will allow nothing to get through of any significance. Playing it safe will only ensure W.'s second term agenda will never get anywhere. Let's roll. . .

I was just thinknig of you. I saw a commercial with a flash-in-the-pan babe that I don't think has been featured yet: Janine Turner. She was the love interest in Northern Exposure, and seemed like she was going to be huge (about the same time that Sherilyn Fenn was approaching Supernova), and then her career (like Sherliyn's) just suddenly took the off ramp to nowhere. Any thoughts?
Posted by: The Colossus at June 16, 2005 07:32 AMColossus--I noticed her ads for those afflicted with dry-eye but have not giving much thought to doing a FITP post on her. She seems to be holding up well and has not indulged, as far as I can tell, in any of the three major activities which mark a starlet desperate to revive a sagging career.
Posted by: LMC at June 16, 2005 09:08 AMBill Lann Lee, if I recall correctly, was rejected by a vote of the Judiciary Committee, prior to receiving his recess appt as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights. President Clinton, explaining the appointment said something like "We tried to do it the constitutional way, but couldn't...". I also think Lee received back to back recess appts, which made a mockery of the Senate confirmation process, but of course, no libs will admit it(their motives are so pure....).
