Flash in the Pan Guys: 90s Division
Here's a good bar bet question:
He's the only actor to kill JFK and Jimmy Hoffa, while finding time to fix Einstein's car.
Whatever happened to Frank Whaley?
I'm hoping Red has an update---she always does on questions like this. He's an interesting actor---he inhabits the shady border between "guy next door" and "serial killer" quite well. Granted, he's no Fisher Stevens, but who really is?
Posted by Steve at June 10, 2005 07:38 PMFrank Whaley!! You know what I really like him in? Field of Dreams ... member him in that? He was adorable.
And then of course, he got to be shot by Sam Jackson in Pulp Fiction!
I am not sure what he is doing now - but I know that he is a big presence here in NYC, the theatre scene. He and Ethan Hawke used to have a theatre company together ... a bunch of cool people were in it ... and he's very involved in a lot of different cool projects here. I see his name all the time.
I'll ask around - I know a couple of people who were in Hawke's company. They may be able to give an update.
Posted by: red at June 10, 2005 09:15 PMOne last thing: he's one of those actors who has pretty much never been out of a job. Whether he gets a nice small part in a big movie, or whether he's doing Shakespeare in the park, he's always around. His is the kind of career I really admire, and what I aspire to myself.
Kind of under the radar, but always there. He'll be acting when he's 80.
Posted by: red at June 10, 2005 09:17 PMUh, hey Beavis, how come you're wondering where some 80s dude is?
Posted by: Leopold Stotch at June 10, 2005 10:38 PMSee? That's what I mean! Thanks, Red.
Leopold: I was spreading mulch this afternoon, and for some odd reason, I couldn't get the scene out of my head where he whacks Jimmy Hoffa...
