Tee Bee reports that Nena, that icon of mid-80's Euro-pop, is still going strong.
Heh. Do you ever suppose that occasionally, very late at night when nobody is around, folks like, for example, Men at Work ("It's a Mistake") and Sting ("Russians"), look back at some of their Reagan-era work and say to themselves, "Jesus, I was a moron"?
Nah, me neither.
UPDATE: I had meant to link this earlier - Tee Bee also has you covered for All Things Falco. "Rock Me, Amadeus" was something of an anthem amongst us oarsmen when I was in school.
Posted by Robert at April 26, 2005 12:34 PMIt's lots of fun now to listen to 80s lyrics whining about how Reagan was leading us down the path of nuclear annihilation. Really, there aren't as many zombies as advertized.
Still, I always thought she was a babe, even if she didn't shave her pits.
No, but they probably say to themselves, "Jesus, our fans were morons." And then they laugh all the way to the bank.
Not to go all sociologist, but the 80s was marked by quite a few nuclear annihilation songs.
Seeing that the 90s brought grunge and Rage Against the Machine, maybe Reagan added something to popular culture.

As far as pop-psych, which I've avoided on the subject of Eurotrash, I think it's a resurgent element in stuff aimed at youth: Live for today! Tomorrow may suck, and we may be old if we live at all, so dance!
PS Do you have any pics from your Falco rowing? Just wanna see if you went with the greaser look or something a little more Louis XIV.
Posted by: tee bee at April 26, 2005 06:24 PMI myself always remeber the horrid Phil Collins video with the nasty caricature puppet of Reagan waking up and being incapable of deciding which button to push -- "Bottle" or "Bomb".
Such insightful political commentary. I'm surprised Soros hasn't bought a blog for him. Maybe he'll be part of Arianna Huffington's portal of collective left-wing idiocy.
